ABOUT
Deepi Kaur Ahluwalia is a food, travel, lifestyle photographer and director. She is also co-author of A Woman's Place (Spring 2019; Little, Brown) and columnist (writing and photography) for Life & Thyme. Her background in art direction and pastry arts has helped shape a career in commercial and editorial photography. It also has been instrumental in the journey as a culinary storyteller, a medium in which she has contributed over 30 pieces centered around food, people, history and culture.
Deepi honed concepting and storytelling skills, and the ability to connect with varying audiences through words and imagery, while working on local and national advertising campaigns. Her love of food opened the doors to the culinary world where she developed a deeper understanding—and appreciation—of food culture, ingredients and techniques in professional kitchens in New York and Puerto Rico. Photography and writing became tools for creative expression after moving to California, coalescing all her passions under one umbrella.
Deepi holds a B.A. in Communication from The University of Texas at Arlington. She is also a graduate of Miami Ad School (Art Direction) and The French Culinary Institute (Pastry Arts). Deepi lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two daughters and two dogs, and likes to spend her off-work hours creating fantastical tales of warrior princesses and talking dragons with her kids.
LIFE & THYME MAGAZINE
